Some of the tools available today in the Company are: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis, process design tools developed in-house, 2D and 3D modelling as well as an internal testing facility. These tools enable the company to further develop its technology and to deliver the highest quality products, solutions and services to its customers.
Computational Fluid Dynamics is the numerical solution of the Navier Stokes equations for monophase and multiphase flows. It simulates the fluid-dynamic behaviour of real equipment over time. It also shows the effects of liquid movement inside equipment that is subject to wave motion. It is a very efficient tool for conducting parametric studies, substantially reducing the number of tests necessary to develop new equipment.
Finite Element Analysis is the numerical solution of a system of differential equations with partial derivatives. When applied to discrete geometries, it allows the calculation of stresses and deformations on bodies that are subject to external and internal loads. Linked to CFD, it allows the combination of mechanical, fluid-dynamic and process design.
Calculation procedures and software for designing separators with their respective internals have been developed in-house. Thanks to these tools it is possible to identify overall separation performances.
2D and 3D modelling contributes to optimising the geometries of separators and their relative internals. It is very useful for checking the feasibility of modifications to existing equipment, with the aim of reducing or avoiding welding of pressure parts.
In the testing facility, the equipment, including measuring and recording instruments, allows the characterisation of new separator internals, as well as those currently included in the production range, with the aim of improving performances and calculation procedures.
